These terms explain how you can use The English Language Ladder website, courses, eBook and free resources, and what you can expect from us. By using our site or buying from us, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
Who we are
The English Language Ladder ("we", "us") provides online English language courses and learning materials, including Spelling, Grammar and a Spelling eBook. You can contact us at contact@theenglishlanguageladder.com.
Our courses and resources
Our courses are self-paced and educational. Each course begins with a free first module so you can try it before you decide to buy. We also offer free resources, which are provided as they are and may be changed or withdrawn at any time.
Accounts
You need an account to access course modules. Please provide an accurate email address, keep your login details private, and don't share your account with anyone else. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
Some of our courses may be suitable for children. We ask that an adult sets up and manages any account for a young learner, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
Buying from us
Prices are shown in pounds sterling. Any applicable taxes are shown at checkout.
Lemon Squeezy, our payment provider, processes payments. We never see or store your card details, and Lemon Squeezy's own terms also apply to your payment. Our courses and eBook are one-time payments. There are no subscriptions.
Launch prices are available for a limited time and may end without notice. If you bought at a launch price, you keep the price you paid. If you buy a bundle, you receive each included product.
We may change our prices from time to time. A change never affects a purchase you have already made.
Access to what you've bought
Where we say "lifetime access", we mean access for the lifetime of the course, which is for as long as we continue to offer that course. If we ever decide to withdraw a course, we will give you reasonable notice first.
Each purchase covers one learner. If you would like to use a course with more than one learner, such as a class or a group, please get in touch at contact@theenglishlanguageladder.com.
Refunds and cancellation
Our courses and eBook are digital content we make available immediately. When you buy, you ask us to give you access immediately, and you acknowledge that once you have accessed the paid course content, or once the eBook has been made available to you, you lose your legal right to cancel and receive a refund. This is why every course has a free first module for you to try first.
This doesn't affect your legal rights. If a product is faulty, isn't as described, or isn't working as it should, please contact us at contact@theenglishlanguageladder.com, and we will fix it. Where the law requires it, that includes a repair, replacement or refund.
Your licence and our content
All of the content on our site and in our courses, including the lessons, animations, audio, quizzes, certificates, eBook and other materials, belongs to The English Language Ladder or is used with permission.
When you buy or sign up, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the content for your own learning. You may print your certificate and the eBook PDF for your own use. You may not:
- Copy, share, resell or redistribute our content or your login details.
- Upload our content to another website or platform.
- Use our content to teach or sell to others without our written permission.
Certificates
You can earn a certificate of completion by finishing all course modules and passing the final exam. The English Language Ladder issues certificates as a record of course completion. They are not an accredited or regulated qualification and are not a replacement for official examinations.
Using the site properly
Please use our site and courses only for their intended purpose. You must not:
- Try to gain unauthorised access to the site, other users' accounts or our systems.
- Interfere with how the site works or try to bypass the payment or access controls.
- Copy our content using automated tools.
If these terms are broken, we may suspend or end access to your account.
No guarantees
We take care to make our courses accurate and helpful, but we can't guarantee that you will achieve any particular result, grade or exam outcome. We also can't promise that the site will always be available or free of errors. We may update or improve our content, courses and site from time to time.
Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't legally be limited or excluded. If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your legal rights.
Subject to that, we are not responsible for any loss that wasn't a reasonably foreseeable result of us breaking these terms, and our total liability to you for any product is limited to the price you paid for it.
Third-party services and links
We use trusted providers to run the site, as described in our Privacy Policy. Our site may link to other websites. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content.

How we collect and use your information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always show the most recent version. Updated terms don't change what you have already bought, except where the law requires it.
Governing law
The laws of England and Wales govern these terms, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute. This doesn't affect any legal rights you have as a consumer where you live.
